Mocambo Records is one of the finest vinyl-only funk labels on the
planet. A staple amongst some of the biggest funk DJs in the land,
they have released consistently great music and kept true to the
simple principle of great music on the best format – vinyl. Based in
Hamburg, Germany, they have gone about the serious business of
recording and releasing some of the dirtiest and grittiest new and old
funk available.

This night is a celebration of the label in the home town of two of
their most recent signings.

THE MIGHTY MOCAMBOS
The house band for Mocambo Records have worked with musical greats
such as Afrika Bambaataa and Kenny Dope and were the backing band for
the first album by one of the most prominent voices of the new soul
scene – Gizelle Smith. They go by many names, but for this show they
are The Mighty Mocambos and they will be bringing their full-force
live experience – complete with dynamite singer Caroline Lacaze.

THE IMPELLERS
After two years of hard work and various distractions, The Impellers
are returning with their brand new album ‘This Is Not A Drill’ which will
be released on vinyl on Mocambo Records. This special set will blend
highlight of the debut album with brand new tracks and a few nice
surprises. This will also be the first opportunity to pick up an
advance copy of the new 7″ vinyl single “The Knock Knock/I Predict A
Riot”, released on Mocambo.

THE GRITS
Having released their first album on Freestyle Records to huge
critical acclaim from the likes of Craig Charles and Mark Lamarr, The
Grits are now due to release a new 7″ vinyl on Mocambo with an album
to follow. They’re also taking some new directions and bringing some
heavy new psychedelic sounds. This will be one of the first
opportunities to hear brand new material.

PLUS DJs
HOLGER MENZEL
Holger is a photographer, DJ and promoter and founder of Frankfurt’s
premiere funk and soul night – Bamboo. This is a unique opportunity
to hear Holger’s favourite tracks while he’s in town.

the sounds which have become favourites at their monthy Brighton
residency ‘What’s Wrong With Groovin’. Expect dirty, dirty funk,
